Rep. Rose joins members of NY delegation calling for review of criminal justice reform plan

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- A bipartisan group of New York Congress members, including the borough’s representative, have joined calls for the governor and state Legislature to make changes to criminal justice reforms before they take effect January 1.

Rep. Max Rose (D-Staten Island/South Brooklyn) was one of two Democrats who joined five Republicans in a letter to Gov. Andrew Cuomo voicing their concerns about the reforms that passed as part of the state budget in April.

“We can and we must ensure our justice system is fair and maintains our public safety — but the fact is with the bail and discovery reforms Albany went too far, too fast,” Rose said.
